Welcome to The Classic Barns project. This is a work in progress that reflects a deep passion for the icon that is the American barn. The barn gallery pages contain images and photos of barns that are in themselves a work of art, and record the diversity of design of the last few centuries. A special highlight is the Cantilever Barns of Cades Cove, Tennessee. From contemporary working barns to those that are pieces of history, the project intends to preserve a photographic record that will last for generations. Read our feature article from Smoky Mountain Living magazine. Photos from North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentuck and Illinois are featured but all areas of the country are welcome to submit images. To submit images, simply email with photos attached to michael@imountain.net and please list photographers name and location of barn so that we can appropriately list the image.
